Mrs. Altha R. CARITHERS, 84, R.R. 4, Kendallville, died at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday in the Sacred Heart Home, Villa, Ind. She was a former resident of Argos and had been ill a year.
Mrs. Carithers was born Oct. 10, 1893 in Lycoming county, Pa., to George and Mary MOON WILSON. She resided in Kendallville for 16 years after moving from Argos. On March 14, 1918 she married Albert CARITHERS; he died Nov. 25, 1959. She was a member of the Kendallville Assembly of God church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Russell (Mary Jo) LUKE, Goshen, and Mrs. Lester (Ruth) SMITH, Kendallville; a step-daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Irene) WALKER, Alhambra, Cal.; a son, Eugene [CARITHERS], Bremen; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren, and a brother, David WILSON, Knoxville, Tenn.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Grossman funeral home, Argos, with the Rev. David JAY officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday and until time of services on Saturday.
