Mr. E. Hancock dies at his home in South NashvilleOne of the oldest and most respected merchants of Nashville, Enoch Hancock, ied at his residence, No. 913 South Summer street, yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock.Mr. Hancock was afflicted with partial paralysis about two months ago and gradually succumbed to the affliction. He was 54 years old, and leaves a wife and five children, the sons being grown. They were associated with him in the grain business. The children are Cliff, Earl, Elizabeth, Myrtle, and Pearl. Mr. Hancock was on officer of Elm street Church and Claiborne Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Ancient Order of United Workmen, Royal A??? American, Legion of Honor, and Frank Cheatham Biv. Mr. Hancock started in the cotton business in Nashville shortly after the war as a member of the firm of Holding, Wilkes & Hancock, at one time the largest handlers of cotton in Nashville. Ever since that time Mr. Hancock had been prominently connected with the cotton and grain interestes of Nashville. He went through the war as one of the most courageous men in the Confederate Army. He was a native of Giles County.Mr. Hancock was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was an up right, honest, fearless, Christian man whos success never made van nor adversity daunted. The news of his death will find sorrowful lodgment in the breasts of many a citizen of Nashville.The funeral will be held at the residence to-morrow at ? o'clock a.m. Services will be conducted by Dr. D.C. Kelley, R.K. Brown, and W.T. Haggard. Interment at Mt. Olivet.The active pall-bearers will be furnished by the various organizations of which he was a member. The following gentlemen will act as honorary pall-bearers: John J. McCann, W.D. Talbot, Morton B. Howell, Capt. H. J. Cheney, ??? Douglas, E.M. Kelley, George M. Goodwin, Julian W.
