KNOX -- Glenice M. Elkins, 90, of Knox passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at Sebasticook Valley Health Care Facility in Pittsfield.

She was born in Montville on May 18, 1917, the daughter of Walter and Ada (Stewart) Thompson. She graduated from Freedom Academy.

Glenice was employed in several local mills. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening and brook fishing. She loved horses and over the years had several pets. She enjoyed bus trips.

Glenice was always there to lend a helping hand and was giving of herself.

She was predeceased by her parents; husband Maurice Elkins, a son, Larry Elkins; brothers, Floyd, Ivan, and Merton Thompson; and sisters, Mabel Butler, Katherine Allenwood, and Marjorie Parlin.

Glenice is survived by a son, Maynard W. Elkins and his wife, Muriel, of Brooks; a daughter, Patricia McDonald of Knox; daughter-in-law, Viola Elkins of Knox; sisters-in-law, Frances Thompson, Beatrice Thompson, and Nell Thompson; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will take place at the convenience of the family. (Published in the VillageSoup online)
