Death of Mr. Hesse
Mr. Christian Hesse died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Hesse, northwest of Wentzville, Saturday morning, January 3, 1914, at the age of 90 years, 10 months and 22 days.
Mr. Hesse came here with his son March 10th, 1913 from Jefferson County, Missouri. He was born in Germany in 1823 (sic 1824). In the year 1850, he was married to Miss Kerkhoff; to this union ten children were born, eight daughters and two sons. All of them survive with the exception of one daughter.
Mr. Hesse spent a useful life and made many friends. He will be sadly missed by them all. The funeral was held Monday afternoon, January 5, at the Lutheran Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. J. H. Mueller.
Burial was made in the cemetery of that congregation.
