Fay Tangen died at the age of 74, three days after her 74th Birthday. She was the daughter of Emma (Kern) Hopewell and Guy Hopewell. She was born in the Tangen Maternity House in Lisbon, North Dakota. She grew up on her parents farm north of Milnor, North Dakota, she attended a rural school near her home. Fay married Neil Tangen on June 6th, 1954, in Lisbon, North Dakota, he was from Kathryn, North Dakota. They raised their family on a farm southeast of Kathryn, North Dakota. Fay worked in Valley City, North Dakota, for many years. In later years she worked at the Dairy Queen in Valley City, North Dakota. She belonged to Waldheim Lutheran Church and the Local Ladies Aid. She enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emma and Guy Hopewell, a sister, Lorraine Lundin, and a son, Daniel Tangen. She is survived by: Her husband of 54 years, Neil Tangen, of Kathryn, North Dakota, Three daughters, Deborah Tangen of Gillette, Wyoming, Sally Tangen of Valley City, North Dakota, and Tamera Stevens of Moreno Valley, California, and four sons, Steven Tangen of Kathryn, North Dakota, Todd Tangen of Kathryn, North Dakota, Kevin Tangen of Kathryn, North Dakota, and Timothy Tangen of Kathryn, North Dakota, 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, one sister, Shirley Funk, of Lisbon, North Dakota, and three brothers, Marvin Hopewell of Milbank, South Dakota, Gerald Hopewell of Kindred, North Dakota, and Clark Hopewell of Mesa, Arizona.
