Mrs. Burton was a member of Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting and gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irving Percy Burton; and two brothers, Earl and Herman Via.
Family members include three daughters, Laura Evans and her husband, Neal, of Beaufort, North Carolina; Faye Lowery and her husband, Sonny, of Richmond; and Cathy Batchelor of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Russell Via and his wife, Freda, of Afton; a sister, Frances Marie Pillow and her husband, Wayne, of Faber; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, April 23, 2009, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville by the Reverend Richard Lilley. Burial will follow at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church cemetery.
