Mrs Christel Dies Friday After Illness
St. Nazianz - Mrs. Peter Christel, 59, died Friday afternoon at 6:25 at St. Nicholas hospital, after a lingering illness.
The deceased, whose maiden name was Rose Gutman, was born Nov. 6, 1886, in the town of Eaton on a farm a mile north of St. Nazianz and has lived there all her life. On June 2, 1908, she married Peter Christel, also of Eaton township.
Survivors are the husband, one son at home, and one sister, Mrs. Anton Baumgartner of St. Nazianz. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the Christel home and at 10:00 at St. Gregory's church at St. Nazianz with the Rev. Finton Holzknecht, S.D.S., officiating. Burial will be made in the adjoining church cemetery.
Mrs. Christel was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis and a member of the Christian Mothers of this parish,and served as their secretary for six years; members will hold a vigil at the Christel home on Monday evening at8 o'clock. She was also a member of the North St. Nazianz Homemakers and was its leader since it was organized many years ago.
Friends may call at the Christel home until the hour of
services on Tuesday morning to pay their last respects.
