He was born in Daviess Co., was retired from the U S Navy and was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include four brothers, Newton Alvey of Tulsa, OK, Herbert Alvey of Whiting, IN, Billy Joe Alvey of Beaver Dam and James Alvey of Ashland; and two sisters, Doris Shocklee of Jeffersontown, IN and Minnie Scotch of Dallas, Texas. Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home Hartford is in charge of arrangements.
