Edwin Byro, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia, with burial with full military honors in Riverside Cemetery, Madelia.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Pilgrim Funeral Home in Madelia and one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials are preferred to the Society for PSP or the American Lung Association of Minnesota.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Connie of Madelia; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Hruby of Madelia; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; brothers Irwin and Bonnie of Madelia and Robert of Rochester; sister-in-law Della Byro of Madelia.
He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy; sister-in-law, Carol and brother-in-law Chester.
He was born May 8, 1925 to John and Bertha (Ives) Byro in Linden Township, rural Brown County. He grew up in Linden Township. He served in the Seabees during WWII.
He married Helen Quam on Sept. 10, 1950, at the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church. They farmed in Linden and Riverdale Townships until 1965 when he started his own construction company. They moved from the farm into Madelia in 1986 and retired in 1990.
He was a member of the Lake Hanska Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and held several offices. He was also a member of the Madelia American Legion Post 19.
