Joe L. Hawkins of Bloomington, IN, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on March 15, 1917, in Bedford, IN, he was the son of Vada Quincey and Nellie Miranda (McPike) Hawkins. He married Eunice Row on March 20, 1937, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia J. Merriman of Bloomington, IN, and Susan Chaney of Bedford, IN; three brothers: Vada (Bud) Hawkins and Robert G. Hawkins, both of Bedford, IN, and Jack M. Hawkins of Weatherford, TX; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 0one brother, Raymond Hawkins, and two sisters, Mary Campbell and Thelma (Sammie) Cole.

He was retired from Central Foundry and was a veteran of World War II, serving inn the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ, the U.A.W. Local #440, the Bedford Lodge #14 F&AM, and had been active in square dancing the years past.

Services for Joe Hawkins will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 10th, at the Cresthaven Mausoleum Chapel with Bro. Ermil Norman officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
