Frank was born May 3, 2921, in Duluth, Minnesota, the son of Frank Sr. and Olga (Ageland) Hallberg. He was raised and educated in Duluth and graduated from high school in 1939.

Frank entered the army in 1942, and after basic training at Camp Roberts he received further training in Michigan and Kentucky. While at Camp Roberts, Frank married Marilyn Jean Pogatschnick on November 28, 1942.

As it was World War II time, he was sent to England, then to France where as part of the Military Police, Frank guarded German prisoners of war. He received an honorary discharge on November 17, 1945, at which time he returned to Duluth for one year.

In 1946, he and Marilyn moved to Jamestown, North Dakota, where he began a 45-year career with Stanley Home Products. He served as branch sales manager, and under devoted leadership, helped North Dakota climb to number two in the nation in sales. With Marilyn managing the office work and also involved in sales, the couple received numerous sales recognitions, and were awarded trips within the United States and once to Puerto Rico and Acapulco. The family also lived in Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota, before their final move to Bismarck in 1966. Frank retired in 1984 and in 1996 he entered Marion Manor Care Center in Glen Ullin, North Dakota

Frank was a member of McCabe United Methodist Church, and belonged to the English Singers, a group that sang at nursing homes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. His enjoyment of traveling included a European trip with Marilyn in 1977. He was a kind man, very patient when working with children, and during his retirement years, found time to volunteer as a deliverer of Meals on Wheels.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his two sons, Ross and Gerry Hallberg; one sister, Louise Peterson; and one brother, John Hallberg.

Funeral service was Friday, January 4, 2002, at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, North Dakota with Rev. Rick Fossum officiating.
