John Homer Howard was youngest child born John Minning and Louise Weber Minning-Howard and John Adam Minning. He took the last name of his stepfather, Herbert Howard and was very close to his mother. John was a linguist fluent in nine languages. Most of them he learned on his own. He was a physicist having attended the University of Cincinnati. Twice he was married, but had no children. He died from a heart attack while taking a rest between mowing the lawn. He had a place with a marker to be buried next to his mother, but he wanted to be buried in Oregon and his wishes were followed.
