Amanda Cecelia Johnston, 87, Hillsboro, died December 6, 1988, at a foster home in Aloha.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Sunset Chapel of Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary with Pastor Jerry Propat of First Baptist Church of Hillsboro officiating.
Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Mrs. Johnston was born June 26, 1901, in South Sioux City, Iowa, a daughter of Frank and Ida Newman Blair. On September 30, 1921, she married Laurence E. Johnston in Torrington, Wyoming.
The couple moved to North Plains in 1936 and to Hillsboro in 1965.
Mrs. Johnston was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hillsboro and had worked in the nursery at the church for many years. She was an active volunteer of the Women's Missionary Group.
Survivors include daughters, Ethel McKindley and Ruby Sanders, both of Hillsboro; Inez Ptacek, Portland; Wilma O'Connor, Lakeview; and Garnet Verley, Newberg; and sons, Lee Johnston, Lauen Johnston, Robert Johnston, and Gerald Johnston, all of Hillsboro; and James Johnston, Forest Grove.
Also surviving are 47 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Pfaff.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
Donelson, Sewell and Mathews Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
