Final Rites Held for Andrew Hittle

Andrew M. Hittle was born October 31, 1876 at Lovilla, Iowa and departed this life April 22, 1950 at his home at the age of 73 years.

Mr. Hittle was a resident of the Castana Community before coming to Onawa; it was about 45 years ago that he moved to this vicinity. He has been on the same farm for the past 30 years.

On September 29, 1898 he was united in marriage with Fannie Louise Fisher, to this union two daughters and three sons were born. They are, Mrs. Carl Nikoliasen, of Blencoe, Mrs. John Tyson of Onawa, Clarence and Claude both of Blencoe and Alfred of Onawa.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Onawa. A good man, a loving and devoted husband and father and a real friend to all, he will be greatly missed in this community.

Surviving are his wife, the five children, 14 grandchildren, nine great grand children, one brother, Thomas Hittle of Los Angeles, California, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held Tuesday, April 25th at 2 p. m. at the First Christian Church in Onawa with Rev. Everett Epperson officiating. Margaret Gray, Dorothy Ferris and Helen Cato sang “It is well with My Soul” and “Beautiful Isle” accompanied by Miss Nancy Ferris. Bearers were Ed Lane, Lawrence Brooks, E. J. Myrland, Carl Hansen, Fred Heed and Clarence Bergstroni. Mrs. Ed Lane and Mrs. E. J. Myrland were in charge of the flowers. Interment was in the Onawa cemetery by the Pearson Funeral Home.
