Adeline Christina Klahn of Corvallis died Wednesday at her home. She was 81.
She was born in Aztec, N.M. to George A. and Della Inez (Day) Keeney. She graduated from Aztec High School.
She married Louis J. Klahn on Jan. 14, 1942, in Farmington, N.M. After getting married, the couple lived in Durango, Colo., until moving to Canoga Park, Calif., in 1954. They moved to Corvallis in 1972.
Adeline drove school buses for 14 years for the Dorsey Bus Company. She also volunteered as a driver for Dial-A-Bus.
Not only her family but also her network of community friends was very important to her. Adeline was also very active in the community and worked to protect and promote the rights of the disabled.
She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing cards, golf and swimming.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was very active with ARC, Cornerstone, HomeLife and St. Vincent de Paul.
Adeline was preceded in death by husband Louis, who died June 25, 1997, and daughter Elaine Mellott.
Survivors include sons Louis Jr. of Post Falls, Idaho, Wayne of Parachute, Colo., Dan of Umpqua, David of Corvallis, Chris of Germany and Phil of Gresham; daughters Nancy Klahn of Corvallis and Kathleen O'Brien of Post Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her granddaughter Kristi Hanna lived with her for many years and was especially close to Adeline.
A recitation of the holy rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at McHenry Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
