Henry was the son of Jonathan and Abigail (Johnson) Danforth Jr. He married Hester Savage in September of 1817 in Skaneateles, Onondaga Co., New York. Their first child was born in Skaneateles, then they relocated to Pekin in Niagara Co. where they had five more children.
