Emma Elizabeth Shelten Reno was born January 6, 1896 to Joseph and Charlotte Shelten near Weableau, Missouri and departed this life entering into a new life eternal into the heavens not made by hands in Northwood Hills Health Care Center, Humansville, MO. November 24 1989.
Emma's childhood years were spent around Weaubleau, with five brothers and four sisters as playmates.
On November 14, 1914, she was married to Fred Doyal. To this union four children were born: Mrs. Mable Chancellor (Wheatland), Mrs. Myrtle Reno (Wheatland) Clifford, who preceded her in death January 19 1973, and Clyde (Aurora).
On May 14 1945, she was married to Charles Reno who preceded her in death.
Emma, better known by "Granny", enjoyed life and had a special love for the younger generation.
On July 28 1911, at the age of 15 years, she and two of her sisters were saved in a tent revival held by Brother Cooper at ths rural County Pleasant Ridge Arkansas Church, near Gerster, MO. and was baptized in the Weubleau Creek.
Granny loved the Lord and attended church and prayer meeting as long as she was able to go.
The last few years were tryings years with failing health. But with her faith in God she arose above every circumstance, still enjoying life.
She will be missed, but she is not gone - only for a season. Her soul will live on forever.
She leaves of the original family a sister, Vangy Murphy, 97, Holden MO; two sisters-in-law, Cecil Shelten, Weaubleau MO., Faye Shelten, Humansville MO.; her three children, 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 38 great-great-grandchildren, a host of nephews and nieces.

Emma and Fred Doyle lived near Gerster, Mo. at the start of their married life, moved to Collins, and then to Garden City about 1925, when they shipped all their household goods, cattle, machinery - everything they owned - by train.
Emma and Fred later divorced and Emma moved back to Gerster with her four children, and later moved to about a mile from her parents in Hickory Co. MO.
