LUCY COMPTON LAYNE
Mrs. Lucy Compton Layne, 79, rt. 4, Louisa, died in an Ashland nursing home following an extended illness. Mrs. Layne was born May 11, 1896, at Louisa, a daughter of the late John A. and Cora French Compton. She was a member of the Buchanan Methodist Chapel. Her husband, Leslie Layne, died in 1973. Surviving are a brother, Thomas Compton of Rt. 1, Rush, and a sister, Miss Dixie Compton of Catlettsburg. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Buchanan Chapel by the Rev. Frank Wallace. Burial was in Buchanan Chapel Cemetery. The Kilgore and Collier Funeral Home in Catlettsburg was in charge of arrangements.
