Shirley T. Braxton, age 81, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 1969 in Parkview Hospital where he had been a patient since Tuesday morning.

Mr. Braxton was born July 4 1888 in Hillsboro, Texas. Mr. Braxton had made his home in Wheeler Co. since 1921. He came here from Weatherford Texas and had resided in Wheeler for the past 6 years following his retirement as a farmer.

He was married to Miss Pearl Dodson July 13, 1913 in Weatherford, Texas. A son preceded him in death.

His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Braxton of Wheeler, 7 half-brothers: George of Shamrock; Charles of Amarillo; A.C. of Hereford; Ross of Raton, N.M.; Elster of Whittier, Calif.; Clety [sic] of Lincoln, Neb.; and Jim of Alaska.; 3 half-sisters: Mrs. Edith Gomez and Mrs. Sue Day [sic] both of Albuquerque, N.M. and Mrs. Elsie Cupall of Grand Canyon, Arizona, and some nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Wheeler Church of Christ where services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday August 8, 1969. Interment will be in the Wheeler Cemetery with Clay Funeral Home in Charge.

Minister Roy Carver of Amarillo will conduct the services assisted by Minister Carroll Thomason. The body will lie in state at Clay Funeral Home in Shamrock until 9:30 a.m. when it will be taken to the Wheeler church of Christ where it will lie in state until service time.

Pall bearers are Herbert Stacy, George Bond, George Porter, Harry Wofford, W.L. Jolly, and Amos May.

Honorary Pall Bearers are Tink Ingram, George Stacy, O. Nations, Bill Owens, Carney Crafton, Mark Jaco, and C.B. Witt.
