Lula Belle Saunders Armstrong was the daughter of James "Monroe" Saunders and Rosa Etta Jones Saunders, born in Laclede County on May 6th, 1890. She departed this life at the Lebanon Nursing Home on October 29, 1981 at the age of 91 years. On April 4, 1915 she was united in marriage to Ellis Armstrong and to this union four children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Armstrong, on April 28, 1938; also one brother Monroe Saunders, two sisters, Pearl Basnett and Maggie Dolan; two grandchildren, Gerald Lee Jones and Beverly Starnes Holbrook; and a cousin Rosa Saunders, with whom she lived for several years. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Lebanon and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.
