Mrs. Sowell, daughter of the late O. C. and Janie Griner Newton, was born in Midville, GA and had lived in the Macon area since 1965. She attended Midville High School and had 27 years of service with Piggly Wiggly Southern. Mrs. Sowell worshipped at Ingleside United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Inglelights. Survivors include her daughters, Pat (Danny) Ogletree, Amy Wise both of Macon; sons, Bill (Vicki) Sowell of Bolingbroke, Clint (Ellen) Sowell of Gray; 9 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters. Mrs. Sowell was widowed by William Tel Sowell, Jr.
