Mr. Hardy was born in London, England on July 16, 1888, a son of Joseph William and Catherine Lee Hardy. He immigrated with his parents to the United States and in 1907 became foreman and interpreter in a stone quarry for the Portland Cement Company at Independence, Kan.
In 1915 he came to Salt Lake and married Manila May Willden on May 22, 1916.
He has been employed by several firms including the Union Pacific Railroad and has served as a police officer and deputy sheriff in Utah and Idaho. He also held a commission in the Idaho State Constabulary.
He held membership in the Antelope Chapter No. 3 of the Intermountain Foot Printers Association and the Utah Finger Print Association.
He is survived by his widow, three sons, John W. and Paul Lee Hardy of Salt Lake, and Andrew E. Hardy of Marysville, Calif., two daughters, Catherine Hardy and Minnie May Hardy of Salt Lake and two grandchildren." (Source: Deseret News, Tuesday, August 10, 1943, page 14, column 4)
