Rose traveled from Montgomery to California in the early 1920's to study music. While there, she worked as a governess and met many notable people, including Albert Einstein. Rose had learned German from her Swiss born father, and German born mother and conversed with Einstein in this language. While in California, she attended and graduated from music conservatories.
Rose was united in marriage to Robert Frank McCune in Shippensberg, Pennsylvania where she taught piano lessons for many years. Music was always an important part part of Rose's life. She taught music lessons well past the age of retirement, often having to pay a neighbor to drive her to schools or to the homes of students.
She leaves her two sons; Leon Rummel of Garlena, CA, and Robert McCune of Plano, Texas. One sister; Dorothy Crawford of Phoenix, AZ. Three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She now joins her parents, her husband, one grandson, one sister; Pauline Nyvold, five brothers; Arthur, John, Walter, Fred and Herbert Leroy Tschannen.
Burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Sandwich, Illinois with graveside services with the Rev. Thomas Kingery officiating.
