Christian Emge, Retired Farmer, Died Saturday
Christian Emge, 85, RR 2, a retired farmer died Saturday morning following an extended illness. He was born in June of 1869 in Horstain, Germany, a son of Frank and Eve Emge. On Aug 11, 1897 in Germany he was married to Miss Theresa Gast.
In 1907 the family came to America and direct to Leavenworth where they remained for only three months and then moved to Amarilio, Tex, where they made their home until 1913 when they returned to Leavenworth and have resided until the present time.
Mrs. Emge died Jan, 25, 1953.
He was a member of the St. Joseph's Carmelite Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William Perry, RR2, Mrs. Carl Coldren, Orlando, Fla. and Mrs. Charles Beckman of Canyon City, Tex; two sons, Val Emge, RR 2, and Joseph Emge of Bucyrus, Kas., and 23 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 9 am. at the St. Joseph's Carmelite Church with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends will assemble Monday at 8 p.m. at the Sumpter Funeral Chapel for there citation of the rosary. The body will remain at the Sumpter chapel until time of service.
