ANDREW MUNSCH DEAD
Died at the Home of His Daughter In Independence, Mo.
"Andrew Munsch died today at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ben Bouseman at Independence, Mo., where he went to visit for a few days but took seriously ill.
Mr. Munsch was born in Ober Elsass, Germany*, November 30, 1820 and would have been 89 years of age November 30th next.
He came to this country in 1855, and lived in Indiana two years, then came to Leavenworth in 1857. Later he went to Colorado and took part in the civil war, making part of the campaign under General Franz Sigel as a member of the Second Colorado Volunteer cavalry, and after the war, was for many years proprietor of the French hotel of this city. He has been making his home with his daughter, Mrs. H. F. Klemp, since the death of his wife four years ago.
The remains will probably not arrive until Monday. The funeral arrangements to be made later.
Three daughters survive him. They are Mrs. Ben Bouseman, Independence, Mo., Mrs. Vince Culver, San Antonio, Texas, and Mrs. H. F. Klemp, Leavenworth."

*Oberelsaß was a region in the southern part of the province of Elsaß-Lothringen in the German Empire from 1871 to 1918. The region corresponds exactly to the current French department of Haut-Rhin.

"The remains of Andrew Munsch arrived here at 9:30 o'clock Sunday night from Independence, Mo., where he died Sunday morning.
The body was taken to the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. W. Klemp. The services were held at St. Joseph's Catholic church at 10 o'clock yesterday and internment was in Mount Calvary cemetery."
