Nicholas Carter was born in Morristown, Middlesex, New Jersey 25 Dec 1780. On the 1880 Census 3 of Nicholas kids, Harriet, Abraham and Jeremiah said that their Father was born in NJ and Mother born in Georgia. Nicholas was also a War of 1812 veteran.

He lived in Franklin Co., Indiana on the Indiana-Ohio line in 1806, Nicholas married Susannah Rebecca Hamman 5 Sep 1806 in Butler Co., Ohio. She was daughter of Abraham and Charity Hammock Hamman. About 1829 Nicholas and Anna Carter and kids moved to Vermillion County, Indiana and lived in Helt Twp untill he died in 1843.

There is a copy of Quit Claim Deed dated 2nd July 1845, Book 12, page 590, Vermillion County, Indiana showing sale of land of Nicholas Carter to son Tobias Carter by heir and son Squire Carter, wife Mariah Jackson Carter, daughter Harriet Carter Blakesley and husband Obediah Blakesley.I have heard of this document but do not actually posssess a copy of it.
