Walter T. "Mutt" Hester, 88, died Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at Golden Living Center in Amory. He was born January 14, 1919, in Monroe County to Verdo and Annie Harris Hester. He was a lifelong resident of Nettleton. He was a retired construction company owner and a Baptist. He enjoyed working in his garden and riding in his truck since his retirement.

Services were held at the Chapel of Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Nettleton with Bro. Tommy Whaley and Bro. Regan Rye officiating. Burial was in the Nettleton Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys T. Hester of Nettleton; two sons, Thomas Rex Hester (Diane) and Kenneth Joe Hester (Marolyn), both of Nettleton; two sisters, Connie Morgan of Verona and Earline Hall of Nettleton; four grandchildren, Terry Joe Hester (Betty Jo), Jerry Wayne Hester (Donna), Lisa Burroughs and Kim Inmon (Darrell); eight great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Carl Devan Hester; three brothers, Gene Hester, Leon Hester and Billy Joe Hester; and two sisters, Gladys Birmingham and Ethel Cummings.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Sisk, Jeff Rooker, Mark Burroughs, Darrell Inmon, Tyler Tatum and Mem Riley.

Honorary pallbearers were Devan Hester, Wayne Carwyle, Chris Hester, Levi Inmon and Ryan Hester.
