Theodore S. Baker, age 84, a lifelong resident of Holmes, NY, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 in New Milford. Mr. Baker was born December 2, 1924 to Stanley M. and Ethel (Burton) Baker. He graduated from Pawling High School in 1942. Mr. Baker married the love of his life, Marcia Ludington on September 12, 1947 in Patterson, N.Y. Mr. Baker was a truck driver for the NYS Department of Transportation/Taconic Parkway. Earlier on he worked for Pawling Rubber Corp. in Pawling, NY and was a Diary Farmer prior to that, working as a boy for his grandfather on through until 1964. He continued to raise livestock until 2005. Through the years, Mr. Baker was involved with many a membership including the Whaley Pond Grange, the National Rifle Association, the Hudson Valley Draft Horse Association and the New York State and New England Milking Short Horn Associations. He was 50 year life member and charter member of the Holmes Hose Co. as well as a lay leader and chairman of the board of trustees of the Holmes United Methodist Church. Besides his wife Marcia, he is survived by eight children, Charles T. Baker and his wife, Noresta of Fort Plains, N.Y., David G. Baker of Chesapeake, Va., James H. Baker and his wife, Susan of Alexandria, Va., Caroline M. Williams and her husband, Randolph of Dover Plains, N.Y., John S. Baker of Holmes, N.Y., Amy C. Baker-Maile and her husband, Tyler of Holmes, N.Y., Glenn D. Baker of Holmes, N.Y. and Arthur B. Baker and his wife, Victoria of Dover Plains, NY. Also 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mr. Baker was pre-deceased by a daughter-in-law, Nancy Baker. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2009 11 a.m. at the Holmes United Methodist Church, Holmes Rd., Holmes, NY. Interment following at Maple Avenue Cemetery, Patterson, N.Y. Friends may call at the Dwyer Funeral Home, 23 South Street, Patterson, NY on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Baker's memory made be made to the Holmes United Methodist Church, P.O. 146, Holmes, NY 12531.
