Olive Evaline, oldest daughter of Henry and Leah Shaffner, was born in Martinsville township, February 10, 1860, and departed this life at her home in Melrose township January 17, 1924, aged 63 years, 11 months and 7 days.

She was united in marriage to G. W. Thompson, January 1, 1880. To this union were born five sons, Ford A., of Warm Springs, Oregon, Clacy of Racine, Wis., Fred Oathio and Garnet of Melrose, also two daughters, Mabel Rudicile of Indianapolis, and Una, who lives at home with her parents. There is also left to feel this loss an aged mother, one sister, Mrs. William Medsker of Melrose township, ten grandchildren, and a large number of other relatives and friends.

She moved to Melrose township with her parents at the age of seven and always remained there. In her early girlhood days she united with the Church of God at Melrose and remained a faithful and conscientious Christian. She was always loyal and true to the church and all of its interests. She was a faithful and loving wife and a kind mother. Her last sickness was of short duration.
