ORAN (Special) - March 13, 1977 - Henry Halter of Oran died Sunday
morning
at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau where he had been a
patient
since March 5. He was 85 years old. Mr. Halter was born April 18,
1891, at
Caney and on July 25, 1915, he married the former Miss Ida Nagel of
Gordonville.
She preceded him in death in 1940. On June 8, 1948, he married Mrs.
Beatrice
Valleroy of Cape Girardeau. Mr. Halter farmed in the Oran area until
1948.
He was last employed as a custodian at St. Bonifice Catholic Church in
Perryville until September 1962 when he retired and moved back to
Oran. Mr. Halter
was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church and St. Joseph's
Sodality.
Surviving: his wife, sons, Wendelin and Andrew Halter, both of St.
Louis,
Romanus and Michael Halter, both of Cape Girardeau; daughter, Mrs.
Floyd Marvel,
Oran; stepson, Carl Miller, Cape Girardeau; stepdaughters, Mrs. Clyde
Bohnart
and Mrs. Stella Miller, both of Cape Girardeau; brother, Lawrence
Halter,
Oran; sisters, Mrs. Lena Menz, Oran, and Mrs. Rachel Kielhofner, Cape
Girardeau;
24 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the
Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Oran after 7 tonight. There will be a
parish Rosary at
the funeral home at 7:30 Tuesday night. Service will be held at 10
Wednesday morning at Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev.
Richard Rolwing,
pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be
grandsons, Gerald, Richard and David Halter, Robert Miller, Bill
Bohnert and
Bill Headricks.
