Merritt A Weaver of Buck Grove school district, Smallwood township, only son of Abraham and Alma (Wakefield) Weaver, was born August 29, 1873, and died at 4 p.m. Friday, October 17, 1924, aged 51 years, 1 month and 19 days.

Mr. Weaver lived all of his life in the same neighborhood. He was married to Miss Emma Upton and they were the parents of one child, a daughter, Miss Millie, who with her mother survives. There are, also, living an aged father, Mr. Abraham Weaver, four uncles Milton Wakefield of Newton, Thomas Wakefield of California, Jacob Weaver and William Weaver of Olney, besides cousins and other relatives.

Deceased was the picture of good health until a few months ago, when all of a sudden it was announced that he was fatally stricken with cancer, the news coming as a shock to many persons who knew him. From then on until death came to the patient sufferer, varying reports were out as to his condition, but at no time did those who were intimate ever share in the belief that he would recover.

Mr. Weaver was an ideal citizen, the last word in genial good fellowship, and his acquaintances were many and extended well over the county. He served one term as Supervisor and was a useful member of the County Board. He was interested in good schools, roads and comfortable homes, and in all respects supported what he believed to be for the welfare of the community where he and his family resided.
