Athens - A funeral was held at the Athens United Church Wednesday afternoon for Addie Jane Knapp, 87, of Athens, who died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Myers, RR 2 Jasper.
Born in Lyndhurst, March 15, 1894, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Ross and Eliza Morris.
She was married to Morton Knapp at Athens on April 10, 1918 by Reverend T.J. Vickery. Mr Knapp predeceased her September 13, 1926.
After the marriage, the couple lived and farmed in the Lake Eloida district.
For 23 years, Mrs. Knapp resided at the home of her daughter Mrs. Norman Doran of Athens. For the three months prior to her death, she lived with her daughter Mrs. Thomas Myers.
Her main interests were crocheting, knitting, her home and her family. She was a member of the Athens United Church.
Mrs. Knapp is survived by two sons, Orrie Knapp, of RR 4 Brockville and Thomas Knapp of RR 4 Athens, three daughters, Mrs. Yates Healey (Eliza), of RR 1 Toledo, Mrs. Thomas Myers (Annie) of RR 2 Jasper, and Mrs. Norman Doran (Goldie) of Athens as well as 40 grandchildren, and 56 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two grandchildren, Orrie Myers of Montreal and Douglas Myers of RR 2 Jasper, as well as two sisters, Mrs. Phillip Livingstone (Annie) of Athens, and Mrs. Joshua Moulton (Louise) of Athens.
Friends were received at the Judson Funeral Home, Athens, until funeral services Wednesday, officiated by Reverend Paul Hacker and assisted by Pastor Clark of the Smiths Falls Pentecostal Church.
Internment followed at Sheldons Cemetery. A hymn "Abide With Me" was sung and Reverend Hacker sang "How Great Thou Art".
Pallbearers were Paul, Roger, and Joe Knapp, Bill Myers, Charles Healey and Ken Desaulniers.
There was a large floral display and many memoriams to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Diabetic Association and the Athens United Church.
