Thomas J., James M., Benj. H. and Robert Morton went into Southern Army at the time of Price's raid in fall of 1864 and were under Gen. Price's command. Don't know to what Company they were assigned.... Benj. H. Morton was wounded at Independence, MO and James M. fell back with him and they were captured prisoners and taken to Ft. Levenworth, KS where Benj. H. Morton died of his wounds. James M. was taken to Camp Morton Indiana where he remained as military prisoner until close of the Civil War in Spring of 1865. Benj. H. Morton, mentioned above, was Benjamin Hawkins Morton, b ca 1842 in MO, son of James Quinn Morton and Artemissia Ellison of Cooper Co., MO who previously resided in Madison Co., KY. Apparently he is buried as Benjamin H. Moulton.

Benjamin H. Moulton, PVT in the CSA died in November 1864. He is interred in Section D, Grave 1075. He was a prisoner of war at the time of his death. (Veterans Administration, Fort Levenworth National Cemetery, Feb. 2, 1979)
