Deceased Name: Obituary: Phyllis Marie Orme Chandler
CLEARFIELD, UT
- Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Phyllis Chandler, return-ed home to her Heavenly Family after a valiant fight with cancer.

She died peace-fully, July 19, surrounded by her loving husband, family and friends.

Phyllis was born in Pocatello, ID June 12, 1940 to Florence and John A. Orme.

She was raised in Idaho Falls, ID and spent her summers on the family sheep ranch. She attended Idaho Falls High School where she was an active member of the Pep and Jazz bands. She then attended Brigham Young University where she met and dated H. Kay Chandler of Rigby, ID.

They married Dec 30, 1959 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and returned to Provo, UT to finish school.

After her husband's graduation, they returned to Idaho Falls to start their family. She taught piano lessons and was very active in the church where her husband was the Bishop of Idaho Falls 6th Ward, and gave birth to the first four of her six children. In 1971, they moved the family to Clearfield, UT. In Clear-field, she and her family became an active part of the Community and Clearfield 2nd and 11th Wards.

Phyllis was a talented pianist and enjoyed teaching and sharing her talent with others. In addition to raising her six children, she actively participated in family businesses. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially if it could be done at their cabin in Island Park, ID. She particularly loved driving the back roads in search of wildlife. Phyllis was always engaged in some form of service for others and thoroughly enjoyed her church callings. She served faithfully in the Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women's, both on a stake and ward level. Her greatest joy came in 1997 when she had the opportunity to serve with her husband, as they presided over the Montana Billings Mission for three years. She left a lasting impression on the missionaries and the saints of Montana and Wyoming. She loved to laugh and had a very enthusiastic outlook on life. She created a warm and loving home that was always open to others. She will be remembered most for her compassionate service, loving smile, open arms and amazing motherhood.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Kay Chandler, Clearfield; six children, Lori (Bob) Thurston, Tooele, UT, Philip (Jill) Chandler, Layton, UT, Corinne (Dale) Bowen, Vienna, VA, Nathan (Kelli) Chandler, Klamath Falls, OR, Kayla Chandler, Salt Lake City, UT, Dirk Chandler, Salt Lake City, UT; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Evada (Harvard) Bitter, Ruth (Harold) Yancey; and a large extended family.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Karen Albritton and the staff of Huntsman Cancer Institute and the University of Utah Medical Center for their devoted service in her behalf.

Services will be Thurs. July 25, 2002 10 a.m., Clearfield Stake Center, 935 S. State St, Clearfield, UT. Viewings will be Wed. July 24, 2002, 6-8 p.m., Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd, Layton, UT and Thurs. 8:30-9:30 a.m., Clearfield Stake Center prior to the services. Interment, Fielding Memorial Park, Idaho Falls, ID.
