Mary Eliza Stinnie, 55, of Charlottesville, Virginia departed this life on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. She was born in Charlottesville on March 31, 1954 the daughter of the late William L. Stinnie and Helen M. Clark; two brothers, William R. Stinnie and Charles F. Stinnie, Sr. preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Lane High School and an employee of Rudy's Dry Cleaners for 30 years. Mary aka Mer-Mer or Ms. Jenkins was and always will be the "Rock" of the family. What she said was definitely what she meant and we all knew that she wasn't going to say it twice. Although she was the "Rock" of the family, everyone knew that her love was the softest place on earth. The best way to describe her was fun, loving, caring and full of energy. She loved to dance and get the party started as she would say, "ORE IDA."

She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Kevin L. Stinnie, Monte L. Stinnie, and Sidney M. Stinnie all of Charlottesville; three daughters, Michelle D. Stinnie, Angela Stinnie Barnes, and Helen M. Stinnie all of Charlottesville; a brother, Richard Stinnie, Sr.; three sisters, Daisy M. Stinnie, Darcella M. Stinnie and Deloris Saylor; 14 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and a beloved niece, Linda Saylor; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. R.A. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

J. F. Bell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
