Daniel married Mary Cool daughter of Jacob and Susannah (Roller) Cool, on 25 Sept 1866 in Mahoning County. They had six children: Charlotte May (d.1873), Edwin, William, Anna Marcella (d. 1882), Orville and Herbert. He was a 1st Sergeant in the Civil War, serving with the 125 Ohio Voluntary Inf., Co. A. He practiced law as a pension attorney.
Following the death of Susannah, he married second wife Mary Noonan. They had a son, Frank Daniel.
