Ralph Roy Root was the son of Anderson Root (b. 14 August 1842 in Kinsman, Trumbull County, Ohio, d. 31 July 1896 in Cartwright, Maricopa County, Arizona), an early settler of Nebraska Territory, and Margaret Louise Snodgrass Root (b 25 May 1842 in Jamestown, Mercer County, PA; d. 9 May 1905 in Phoenix, Maricopa, Arizona). Anderson, Margaret, Ralph Roy and his brother, Charles Thompson Root and sister, Jennie Root Crabb, were early pioneers to the Cartwright precinct, Arizona Territory in what is now the Phoenix area, where they established farms and families. He married Mira L. Stacy (b. 14 March 1882 in Bower, Jefferson County, Nebraska) He was the father of Floyd Milo Root (memorial #49051299), Ralph Orrin Root (b. 27 February 1905), Mary Louisa Root Watson (b.2 April 1910), Jennie Root Johnson (b.15 January 1914), and Charl Robert Root (b.14 December 1917). He and Mira were killed together in an automobile accident in Phoenix, leaving behind grandchildren, Ronald R., Myra, Linda Kay, Beverly Mina, Charlot Maurine, Judith Lenore and Robert Leroy. A visit to Ralph and Mira's farm was a child's delight - fig, palm and citrus trees, peacocks, irrigation ditches in which to swim, the spring house in which to escape summer heat, a barn in which to play, chickens to feed, cows to milk. Sadly, it lies today under subdivisions.
