OBITUARY:
'RAYMOND O. BEARD - Ira Beard of southwest of Geneva and Mrs. John Haltermon of Portland accomanied Mr. and Mrs. Roy Beard of Newcastle to Dewey, Okla., to attnd the funeral of their brother Raymond Beard. Raymond Otto Beard, son of Paul M. and Adaline (Platt)Beard was born near Lynn, IN, 20 Oct 1882 and passed away at Halstead, KS, 29 Oct 1945, following a major operation two dys previously, age 63 yrs, 19 days. The family moved to Geneva when he was 8 mo. old. He was reared in this vicinity. He enlisted in the US Signal Corps during Spanish American War. After serving his enlistment he returned to Geneva and shortly afterward went to KS oil fields moving on to OK oil fields. He had been an employee of the Sinclair-Prairie Oil Co. for 40 yrs. For 30 yrs he had resided in Dewey, OK. He was a member of the US Spanish War Veteran Camp and Masonic Lodge of Bartlesville, OK.

He is survived by the widow Mrs. Rose Beard, two daughers Mrs. Pearl Hines of Lawton, OK and Mrs. Edith Engle of Tulsa, an infant graddaughter, Linda Ray Engle, the following brothers and sisters: ElCanie (sic) of Dubuque, IA; Will of Pennville; Mrs. Laura Haltermon of Portland; Ira of southwest of Geneva; Mrs. May Cokerly of southeast of Bartlesville, OK, Roy of New Castle. Burial was in White Rose Cemetery in Bartlesville, OK."
