(The Janesville Daily Gazette March 18, 1996 section B page 2) "Dooge, Lyla Belle (Klitzkie) WHITEWATER---Lyla Belle (Klitzkie) Dooge, age 93, a longtime resident of Whitewater, died Sat. morning, March 16, 1996, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Health Care Services. She was born Jan. 29, 1903, the daughter of George "Joe" F. and Charlotte "Lottie" (Eales) Klitzkie in the Town of Hebron, WI. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitewater, Senior Citizens Leisure Club, Maple Glen Camp 141 of the Royal Neighbors of America since 1930 and the Bark River Historical Society of Hebron. She attended Cushing Mills and Duck Creek grade schools. She helped on the family farm to the time of her marriage to August Dodge on May 17, 1922 in Hebron. They moved to Whitewater in 1949 after discontinuing farming. Lyla and August lovingly raised their granddaughter, Charlene (Zilge) Hare following the death of their daughter, Mavis Zilge in 1959. Lyla is survived by 2 sons, Dale (Virginia) of Strafford, Harvey (Jean) of Jefferson; a daughter, Rose Mary (Cliff) Schemm of Ft. Atkinson; a stepdaughter, Adeline Crandle of Allegan, MI; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Mavis Charlotte Zilge; a grandson, Gary August Dodge; a brother, Harley F. Klitzkie. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wed., March 20, at the FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Burial will be in Hebron Cemetery in Hebron. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at SKINDINGSRUDE FUNERAL HOME. SKINDINGSRUDE FUNERAL HOME is assisting the family." (The above obituary has two errors. Her husband's last name and the son's last name should be Dooge not Dodge. The school above is Cushman Mills, not Cushing Mills.)
