On June 9, 1936, she married Alfred G. Vining in Monticello, Utah. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1987. She was a nurse aide for Southwest Memorial Hospital, Cortez. She also worked for St. Joe Hospital and Wesley Medical Center both of Wichita, Kan. Vining later worked for Cessna Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., from 1965 until her retirement April 12, 1982. They later moved to Independence in 1985. She belonged to Mercy Hospital Auxiliary for 12 years.
Vining is survived two children, one son, E. Duane Vining (Susie) of Independence, Kan., one daughter, Edith Ferrell (Bill) of Caney, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Mark Vining of Independence, Kan.; Michael Vining of Cassville, Mo., Michele Vining of Peck, Kan., Michael Vining of Wichita, Kan., Patti Doncouse of Cherryvale, Kan., Kim Johnson of Independence, Kan.; Sherri Zelent of Mears, Mich., Julie Schriefer of Katy, Texas; 22 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, one step-great-great grandchild; three brothers, Leon of Florida, Donnie of California, Jess of Arizona; four sisters, Wynona Moss of Cortez, Leona Beatty of Farmington, N.M., Frances Martinez of Farmington and Louise Baer of Cortez.
Vining was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Marshall L. Vining, four brothers, Charlie, Boyd, Tom and Bill Lancaster.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan.
16, at the Grace Memorial United Methodist Church at Independence, Kan., with the Rev. Willie Jones and Pastor Steve Butler presiding. Committal services will follow in the Robbins Cemetery, west of Coffeyville, Kan.
