Frances E. Brockman married James Franklin Stokes 25 Jan 1853 in Calhoun, AL. James was b. 31 March 1830 in Jacksonville, Calhoun, AL. and was the son of Thomas Lunsford Stokes and Fatima Hulda Hudson.

Thomas Stokes was b. 10 Dec 1802 in Natural Bridge, Rockbridge, VA., married about 1830 in Greenville, SC, and died Dec 1884 at Travelers Rest, Greenville, SC. Fatima Hulda Hudson was b. 25 Jan 1810 in Greenville, SC, had 13 children and d. 27 May 1861 in Greenville. Her parents were Lunsford Hudson and Amelia Parks (daughter of Thomas Nathaniel Parks and Annie
Brockman).

Both James F., age 30 "b. SC", and Frances E. Stokes, age 30 b. SC., are listed in 1860 Fed. Census Rocky Creek, Greenville, SC, with Frances' recently widowed mother Mary Brockman, age 60, and family, inc. the Stokes children. Frances died 7 Oct 1861 in Greenville, SC, and James Stokes died 1862 in Orange, Orange, VA, in the Civil War. His burial place is unknown.
