Grace Carrie CLAY, 85, Peru, died at Dukes hospital in Peru at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday following a three-day illness.
Born Nov. 26, 1882 in Rochester, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary MATHIAS DOWNS. She was married to George D. CLAY in 1906. He died in 1941. She was a member of the Oakdale Baptist church, Rebekah Lodge 100 and the Senior Citizens club of Peru.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Louis ASHBROOK, Peru; Mrs. Robert PATTISON, Peru; Mrs. Lloyd McGREW, Royal Center; Mrs. Chester SAUSAMAN, Dunedin, Fla.; a son, Robert CLAY, Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren; five reat-grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded in death.
Final rites will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Drake-Flowers chapel at Peru with the Rev. Robert BLAKE officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. cemetery. Graveside services will be at 11:15 a.m Saturday. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
