She was the daughter of Percy and Anna (Williams) Reed. She grew up in Tulsa, graduating from Central High School. She attended John Brown University and graduated from North Texas State University before receiving her masters in education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. She married James Calvin Stewart on June 23, 1970, in California. She taught school in Jenks for seven years before moving to Los Angeles, where she taught for 15 years. After retiring they returned to Oklahoma, living in Spavinaw, then for the past eight years she had lived in Owasso. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include one son, James W. Cumbie, Auburn, Wash.; one daughter, Linda Ann Lovett, Torrance, Calif.; four grandchildren, Katie Cumbie, Anna Knuth, Jessica Otge and Chris Lovett, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Nov. 25, 2008; a son, Bill Cumbie in 1995, and one sister.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Brumley-Mills Chapel in Hartshorne. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of Hartshorne.
