Robert E. Lund was the son of Robert Ranous and Eunice Brown Lund. He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering and spent his entire professional career of 39 years at St. Joe Minerals Corp. He served in the US Navy from 1944-1946 as a radar maintenance officer. Mr. Lund retired from St. Joe in 1981 as Director of Extractive Research and Development.

During his career, Bob was an active member of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) serving on the Board of Directors for five years and as president of the Metallurgical Society (TMS) in 1977. He was elected to the Grade of Fellow, and he also received the James Douglas Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement in Nonferrous Metalurgy.

Bob and his first wife, Elizabeth Dean Best, were the parents of Amy Louise Lund Storer. Bob later remarried June Anderson; they were the parents of Michael Robert Lund, Susan Margaret Boyd Collins, and Stephen Douglas Lund.

Among Bob's various interests were his service to Valley Presbyterian Church, Green Valley Hiking Club and his membership in the GVR Lapidary Club.
