125 Take Part in Search for Missing Man;
Found Dead in Grove of Trees

Herman Busch, about 56, a farm hand, missing since last Thursday, was found by a
searching party Monday afternoon. He apparently had taken his own life by firing a
410 shotgun into the right side of his chest. He had been employed on the James
Stacken farm northeast of Creighton.

The body was found in a grove of trees and slough about half a mile northwest of the
farm buildings. He apparently had shot himself shortly after disappearing from the
farm about 9:30 Thursday morning.

Mr. Stacken was in a Sioux City, Ia. hospital for treatment for injuries suffered
several months ago in an accident. His father, J.C.Stacken of Creighton, was
assisting at the farm and was there when Mr. Busch disappeared. He walked away while
J.C. Stacken was working on some machinery.

When Mr. Busch failed to show up again, a check showed a shotgun and one shell were
missing also. The area around the farm was checked the next day or two. Officials
were notified of the disappearance and Monday the Creighton and Bloomfield Volunteer
Fire Departments spearheaded an intensive search in which about 125 men took part.
The body was found at 2:30 in the afternoon and taken to a Bloomfield morturary.

A brother of Mr. Busch took his own life with a gun approximately six years ago.
Another brother survives. He is also an itinerant farm worker.
