Marion Franklin Billings was born June 21, 1873, in Clarke county, Iowa, and departed this life September 29, 1900, at his home in Lucas, Lucas county, Iowa, aged 27 years, three months and two days. He had been a sufferer for nearly two years, and was not able to be out much the past year. He was well known here, being a grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Welch, whom he spent a week with a short time before his death. He leaves a father, mother, four sisters and two brothers to mourn his departure. He was not a member of any church, but was prepared to go at his Master's call. After he could not utter a word, he made signs to his weeping mother that all was well. The mourning relatives have the sympathy of all. Rev. Pound of Lucas preached the funeral at Bethel chapel on October 1st, after which the remains were laid to rest in Bethel cemetery.
