Charles Shelby Anderson, age 87, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his daughters home in Big Point, MS., where he had resided since Hurricane Katrina. He lived a long and fruitful life and will be fondly remembered by his friends and family. Shelby was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. He was known locally as the "Honey Man", and was passionate about bee keeping, which he and his wife did for 40 some years. He also loved to fish and hunt with his children. He retired from Ingalls Shipyard (Northrup-Grumman) after 47 years as a supervisor in the mold loft. He was Past Master of F&AM Blue Lodge #419 Pascagoula, Past Patron of OES #151 Pascagoula, Past Illustrious Master in Council, and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Masons. Additionally, he was a recipient of the Knights York Cross of Honor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Monroe Anderson and Addie Kennard Anderson, his wife of 61 years, Alice Louise Renfroe Anderson, a brother, Donald Anderson, two sisters, Irene Argulles and Annie Riley, and a grandson, Brandon Anderson. He is survived by two sons, Rusty (Linda) Anderson, and Billy (Kim) Anderson, three daughters, Jean Smith, Elaine (Ralph) Pierce, and Sonya (Riley) Smith, grandchildren, Amanda Anderson, Kim Bosarge, Paul Copeland, Krista Merrill, Michael Pierce, Jeremy, Justin, Cecily, and Lauren Smith, and great-grandchildren, Madison, Mallory and Blake Bosarge, Conner Copeland, Kellen and Chelsea Merrill, Ava, Eli and Tristan Smith. Special thanks and love to his caretaker, Carnell Mosely. A time of remembering and rejoicing this special life will be held for the family at 11:00am Monday, December 22 at the First Baptist Church of Pascagoula. Friends are welcome from 12:00pm until 2:00pm with the funeral Service following at 2:00pm. Graveside services and Masonic rites will follow at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
