Lillian Hurst Abbott, age 88 of Woodville, Texas passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Woodville Health and Rehabiliation Center in Woodville.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11am at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville.

Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville.

Officiating will be Dr. Raymond A. Parker.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Edgar, Albert Abbott, Heath Fuller, Charles Vann Davis, Devin Abbott and Hayden Guerra.

Visitation will also be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 10am until service time.

Lillian was born September 22, 1925 to John and Elizabeth Rowlands Hurst in Stockport, Cheshire England.

Her husband Chester Abbott was a military policeman in the U.S. Army. They met in an air raid shelter during one of the scud missile bombings from Germany. They married just before the war was over in 1945. Her family was the most important thing to her. She loved to knit, crochetand read a good novel.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Chester Abbott, parents, John and Elizabeth Hurst along with four brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughters, Margie Sanford and husband Mike of Hemphill, Texas and Sharon Fuller and husband Keith of Woodville, Texas, her sons, John Abbott and wife Callie of Woodville, Bill Abbott and wife Suellen of Hemphill and Robert Abbott and wife Gaynell of Woodville, her sister, Rene Dean of England, her grandchildren, Dennis Edgar, Gina Edgar, Toby Abbott, Wendy Abbott, Carrie Garsee, Jenny Haralson, Heath Fuller, Heather Albert and great grandchildren, Haley Edgar, Hilary Edgar, Lexie, Kristian and Devin Abbott, Haden Guerra, Sadie and Demi Garsee and Brock Albert.

Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville, Texas.~
