Ruth Townsend, an employee of the State Land Office for forty years, died Saturday in an Olympia nursing home. She was born in Lowell, Michigan, on February 20, 1879. She moved to Grays Harbor County where she was chief deputy assessor for many years. She was a member of United Churches, the YWCA and the Business and Professional Women's Club here. She leaves four cousins, Jessie Raybak, Santa Rosa, California; Edna Terry, Tacoma; Jesse Upton, Vancouver, British Columbia; and Mrs. W.F. France, Montesano. The funeral service will be held in United Churches this Monday afternoon, starting at one o'clock. The Reverend J. Edgar Pearson, Jr., will officiate. Cremation will follow. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Mills and Mills.
