He was born in Fluvanna County, Virginia, on December 18, 1932, to the late Cole and Georgia James Arnette. He was the husband of Alice Chapman Arnette.
Two brothers, George Arnette, John Francis Arnette, and two sisters, Sadie Ried, and Lucille Cavanaugh preceded him in death.
He received his formal education in the Fluvanna Public Schools. He was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist and sung in the choir. He retired from Merrie-Mill Farm, Keswick, Virginia, where he worked as a caretaker, he also did excellent carpentry work as a hobby. He was a gentle, caring, kind, reserved humble and modest man who enjoyed his family immensely.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted and loving wife, Alice Chapman Carpenter; one stepdaughter, Teresa Miller of Woodbridge, Virginia; one brother, William Ray Arnette and his wife, Elsie, of Louisa; a special niece, Ina Cavanaugh of Palmyra; a number of nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 11, 2009, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Reverend Lorenzo Dyer, Pastor Elect, Presiding and the Reverend Dr. R.A. Johnson will deliver the eulogy.
Interment followed at the church cemetery.
